Family Day at the Bali Spirit Festival
Rejoice, as the unique celebration of music, yoga and dance will soon be upon us with the fifth Bali Spirit Festival. From March 28th to April 1st, Ubud will become a stage for an excellent world music concert, dance and an amazing array of yoga and healing workshops. What we love about the organisers is that they never forget kids and Sunday 1st of April will be a dedicated fun day for families and the community, Hari Cinta Keluarga.

Running from 9 am to 4 pm, the day offers a market of food and product stalls, a live stage with traditional musical performances and a diverse non-stop, bilingual set of workshops that will appeal to adults, village elders, teens and children alike. Workshops will include: yoga, meditation, Balinese dance, Indonesian and cross-cultural music and dance, wayang kulit, storytelling, mask making, animal antics, contemporary hip-hop, and of course, fun arts and crafts activities. Read more…
Always held on the Festival's last day, Hari Cinta Keluarga traditionally records the highest guest attendance and families love the positive atmosphere fostering friendship, respect for diversity, and support for local needs. This is a day where Balinese and foreigners from all over the world bond and have fun together.
The Family Day supports AYO Kita Bicara HIV/AIDS (Come on! Let's talk about HIV/AIDS ), a community outreach initiative implemented in 26 schools for 1,200 teenagers to raise awareness about the growing threat and social impact of HIV/AIDS. A percentage of proceeds from the Bali Spirit Festival goes toward the ongoing support of this program.
The activities throughout the Family Day run at the Purnati Center for the Arts in Batuan, just 15 minutes south of Ubud. The festival grounds contain sprawling green lawns and a large swimming pool, so bring your kids’ swimming togs. From 5pm onwards a massive drum and percussion workshop and incredible African Grooves will shake children and their families at ARMA Museum. Festivities then continue into the night and adults who make the suggested donation of Rp.150,000 during the day will be given free access to the evening's grand finale live music concert series held at the ARMA Open Stage. Caregivers and Kids under 12 are allowed in free. For more information on other events held during the festival visit www.balispiritfestival.com.
"One of the most important aspects of the BaliSpirit Festival is our intention to inspire others to give back to their communities and mother earth” Meghan Pappenheim, Festival co-founder.
