Kids Love Brunch !

brunch bali

A good brunch makes the weekend last longer. In Bali, most hotels serve some kind of Sunday brunch but here are a few of my favorite Bali brunches, not only because the food is good and the atmosphere fun, but also because at these restaurants, there's something for kids to do.

Starfish Bloo at The W

The new arrival on the Seminyak hotel scene, the W, does a spectacular Sunday brunch at their beachside restaurant, Starfish Bloo. Alongside the restaurant is a large kids play area where monitored games (treasure hunt) and activities (cooking class) take place all afternoon. There are tables indoor, out on the terrace and a private table that can be booked for larger groups right by the pool.

There are several buffet stations: one for cold things like sashimi, sushi, ceviches and carpaccios, another for hot food with breakfast classics like eggs Benedict, bacon, sausages and South-east Asian dishes like curries and filled steamed buns. There is also a charcuterie and roast table where cold cuts and cheeses are laid out alongside a typical Sunday roast lamb or beef with the classic accompaniments of gravy and roast potatoes. Aside from all that, there is also a sweet buffet of breakfast pastries, fresh fruit, cakes, and desserts. Fresh fruit juices and smoothies are brought around to the table.

El Kabron

A new restaurant that opened up in the Bukit near Padang Padang beach is El Kabron. Although not a traditional brunch place, they do authentic Spanish cuisine, which can be shared like tapas and seafood paellas. There is also a wood-fired barbeque for grilled seafood, fish, and meat. The place is simply decorated with colorful beanbags scattered on the sand surrounding the small pool, chill-out music, and open-air dining and a fantastic sea view. The kids can run around or have a swim while mom and dad take it easy. If you come for brunch, you can stay the rest of the afternoon and catch the colorful Bali sunset.

Chiringuito El Kabron
Jl. Pantai Cemongkak, Pecatu, Bali

*Open daily for lunch and dinner.

How to get there: On Jl. Uluwatu, turn right at Jl. Labuhan Sait towards Padang Padang beach for 1.2 kilometers then watch out for the red and black El Kabron sign on the right-hand side of the road. Follow the signs and don't worry if it feels like the road is going nowhere because it does end at the restaurant. In case you get lost, call David, the owner.

Bali Kudeta Brunch

KuDeTa

Sundays are for families at Bali's most famous beach club and restaurant, KuDeTa. There is usually a bouncy castle and an arts and crafts tent. If all else fails, there's also the shallow pool and the beach. There is no proper brunch menu but a 120000IDR set breakfast served till noon. After that, there is the usual lunch and grazing menu with lots of stuff to share: pizzas, appetizers, sushi platters, and sandwiches. KuDeTa also has a children's menu with the usual stuff: chicken and chips, fish and chips or grilled chicken skewers and rice. Atmosphere is laid-back luxe with the usual chill-out music and well-dressed crowd of locals, ex-pats and tourists.
