Want to meet great ladies and integrate into the expatriate scene?

Join BIWA, the Bali International Women Association.

BIWA is a non-profit charity organization devoted to the welfare of women and children in Bali. Members include Indonesians as well as expats representing 28 countries. It is a forum for exchanging ideas, making friendships and enjoying each other's company while fundraising and carrying out social welfare projects.

BIWA was established in 1974 and is highly regarded for its work in supporting the Balinese community, focusing on education and scholarship, health, and the environment.

Any woman living in Bali, even part time, age 17 years or older, is eligible for BIWA membership. Yearly membership fees are Rp. 250 000 per year.

BIWA members meet regularly in search of friendship, cultural exchange, mutual understanding and co-operative efforts to help others, especially women and children, in Bali. They organize fun events, luncheons, garage sales, raffles, charity bazaars and more. These events are always very busy and lively and this is the best way to meet new people socially and make useful contacts.

The energy from this exceptional group of women is incredible and it feels good to support them in their many worthwhile causes. BIWA gives all women an opportunity to get involved and feel useful in many different ways.

BIWA accepts donations that will be allocated to give assistance in fields that have been BIWA's concern in its social programs for the past 30 years (education, health care, and environment). Established contacts with both government agencies and local NGOs ensure that funds are allocated in an appropriate and accountable way.

Some of their achievements are free mammograms; pap smears and dental check ups for women. BIWA has helped on many occasions in disaster relief wherever it was needed in Indonesia, after mudslides, flooding, earthquakes or the Bali bombings. They have also provided scholarship and nutrition assistance for disadvantaged children. Whatever your skills are, you can find a way to help them and build up your social life at the same time.
