Water Sports

Surfing is popular in Bali and many families take the opportunity to learn this sport while on holiday on the island. The West and the South of Bali are renowned for their surf breaks. However, it is vital to find out the surfing conditions from professionals because the sea can be extremely treacherous and accidents happen. Exert caution at all times. Kuta beach and Double Six beach are suitable for beginners and you will find several surf schools along that area. Surfboards are available for rent too. Experienced surfers can explore the beaches further North from Canggu to Balian beach and the Bukit peninsula is also reserved for skilled surfers. Uluwatu, at the western tip of Bali, is considered a Mecca for surfers and watching the pros is always a great show.

Kite Surfing

For the older and more intrepid, kite surfing generally takes place at the South end of Sanur beach or in Nusa Dua where it is less crowded with boats and surfers can go back and forth at incredible speed. Kite surfing, also know as Kite boarding, has become one of the most popular extreme sports of the new millennium. Bali is a great place to learn and children can do it from 8 years old.

Surf Up Paddle

The whole world is talking about it! Born in Hawaii is now the world's fastest growing water sport. It is accessible to all, can be learned quickly and is a great physical exercise. The modern SUP boards allow you to catch waves a lot earlier than even the long boarders. Boards are typically longer, wider and thicker than traditional surfboards, giving them more buoyancy. This is a great activity to learn as a family and one of the best ways to work out.

Scuba Diving for Kids

Bali's riches extend beyond the shore. The waters around the island are teeming with undersea animals, such as clownfish, turtles, octopuses, cuttlefishes. With easy diving conditions all year round and the possibility to dive from the shore, Bali is the perfect place for kids to take their first plunge. Children can be introduced to scuba diving in a fun way as young as 8 years old. Several Padi programs teach the basics of breathing underwater and essential safety rules.
